External Hard Drive Please Help !!!

Hi there, first off sorry if i posted this in the wrong section.

I have a 2tb Core By CnM external hard drive, i've had it for around 6 months and at first all seemed to be working fine but now everytime i go onto the external hd everything goes unresponsive including the programs i am using at the time. I was wondering if there is any way to stop this because it has made the drive more or less unusable and i have a lot of stuff to back up.

You've posted in the right section.

It sounds like either the drive or the USB bridge has failed.

Try removing the drive from the caddy & installing it into your PC.
If it works there, the caddy needs changing.

also try uninstalling all the usb controllers by going to device manager and restart the computer then start again sonds like a power problem

or turn off the computer pull out the bios battery and pull out kettlelead to reset all powerrs in motherboard i have same probs sometimes

It'll have at least one years warranty, get it replaced.

Have you checked the USB lead
It might just be a bad connection on the lead the mini connector are so small might just be that, had similar problem awhile ago, the drive work then a little later either because of heat or movement stopped working, wiggled and sometimes came back, other times needed a reboot?
