      Thats all a 32bit os will report m8 you would need to install 64bit os to access all your ram.

        32Bit OS will only recognise 4GB max and it takes into account all other memory in the system, i.e. graphics.

        So if you have a 512MB graphics card you should see 3.5GB'ish as available RAM.

          Basically if you want more RAM that you can make use of you need vista (but vista uses like 1gb ram just idling = sh*t) or an alternative OS :-s

            I think he means the 64bit version here.

            As stated tho about you need to swap to a 64bit OS if you want to fully use all your memory as 32bit OS will only see 4gb max including Graphics memory also what is used in resources.

              binary primer:

              binary is a base 2 number system meaning that each digit can have 2 values, 0 or 1

              so to represent 0 or 1 you need 1 digit, to represent 2 and 3 you need 2 digits 4, 5, 6 and 7 need 3 digits eg:

              0=0
              1=1
              10=2
              11=3
              100=4
              101=5
              110=6
              111=7
              1000=8

              etc, so 3bits can address 7numbers, 4 can address 15 numbers etc.
              at 32 bits you could address the maximum of 4,294,967,295.

              now 8 bits is a byte, 1024 bytes is a kilobyte (8192bits)
              1024k is a megabyte (8,388,608 bits/ 1,048,576bytes)
              1024m is a gigabyte (8,589,934,592 bits/ 1,073,741,824bytes)

              18,446,744,073,709,551,615 is the upper limit of a 64bit processors (that is processors with 64 wires connected to its address bus) address space so it could address a maximum THEORETICAL limit of 18.45 exabytes (an exabyte is 1024 terrabytes, which is 1024 gigabytes)

              Theoretical purely because there are other smaller considerations which limit memmory addressing such as north side bus width and the like.
