    deleting files from PC

    hi guys

i set bought a new pc game , fifa manager 07 (ok its not that new)

i have installed the game but it says i need "at least 768mb of free swap space , please free the required space and re-run the programme"

how do i delete or free space . i chaecked my drives it says my c drive has 98.85gb free

but my D drive only has 650mb free . so how do i delete or free space on my d drive so i can get this game running .

been deleting unused programmes for the last 30 min but still no luck .

    thanks

You will need to free space on the drive you want to install it on, no matter how much you delete stuff on the other drive it will have no affect.

It should be able to install on C: no problems. Just make sure when you are installing it that it says C: and not D:

Depends whats on your D: drive, seems very small with all the free space thats there. You could unistall in add/remove programs then try again. Have you partitioned drives or is D: the cd or dvd drive. ???

I personally think the best way to clean unused files is to use CCleaner, its free and will keep your pc clean and tidy from clutter and temp files.

If D: is your dvd then it will always be low depending on what space is left on the dvd itself.

When installing it will usually default to c: but it does ask you where you want to install it.

btw...you wont be able to free any space on D: as it is either a cd or dvd.

You may need to set your virtual memory manually.

                  Go to Start

                  Control Panel

                  Double click SYSTEM

                  click ADVANCED tab

                  In performance click SETTINGS

                  click ADVANCED tab

click the top settings button then advanced tab then change

                  Select CUSTOM SIZE

Then in the two boxes enter

                  INITIAL SIZE: 1024
                  MAXIMUM SIZE: 2048

Now click OK, OK, OK and restart PC if asked.

That is assuming you have at least one gb of ram, if you have more than 1gb then set it higher, the maximum size should be roughly double the initial size.

Swap space is just additional ram in a sense.
its an area of your hard drive put aside by your operating system to use as storage for commonly used libraries, programs and dlls.

Its nowhere near as fast as solid RAM but it is faster than unloading common files then scanning through the rest of a drive to reload it again after a few minuites.
He who laughs last thinks slowest.
