I found this Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs
      and this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982116/en-gb

      Also found this:
"This is annoying when it happens. If the drive appears in BIOS and not in Windows then other than the filters problem it may well be that you have a driver problem. Now this is NOT the driver for the optical drive itself, but the driver for the IDE/SATA/ ports on your computer. Start by checking the model number of the motherboard, then go to the relevant motherboard manufacturer support page to find the downloads for it. If you post the motherboard make and model and the type of optical drive - whether it's sata or ide connected, I can have a look for you."

You need to install the SATA drivers

You need to install the SATA drivers (because the drivers for you'r sata controller are not included in the Windows). So, you can download'it from your's manufacturer's site caopy to an USB drive, and when it will be asked from you, go on "Browse" and locate it on the USB drive. After the driver installation, you can create partition and continue with the installation.

filter problems don't usually happen in windows 7 , more like chipset drivers
