    xp wont boot?

a lad at work has a little acer aspire one net boot which had linux lite on.

he didn't like linux so asked if i could put XP on it for him, i used a USB flash drive to reformat it and everything looked well untill a reboot. now it wont boot up unless the USB dongle is plugged in, once it starts to boot the USB can be removed sort as if the USB dongle is a key to start it??

is there anyway to get this to boot normal without the dongle as its for his daughter and will be a bit of a pain

    cheers

Sounds like it still has the Linux boot sector installed.

You'll need to fix the MBR, simple fix though, just boot the machine to DOS and type FDISK /MBR, reboot and the machine should boot into Windows without the USB stick.
