    do the following:

    1)disk defrag
2)msconfig (disable most application to run at start up)
    ?)uninstall software's that u don't use

          Bad Sectors

You should check your hard Drive for "Bad Sectors" as I've seen a lot (25 in the last month) of computers in my shop with malware that is killing Hard Drives. All came in with the same problem, running realy slow and hanging up in the start up or just sitting there with the wheel spinning. This stuff is coming in via Java and not seen by most AV programs.

Or it is virus or spyware related. Scan with antivirus disks and portable drives you are using.

If it's got really slow over a short space of time, most likely it's down to malware. Some malware is not detected by your normal anti virus programs. install the FREE version of this program and do a complete scan Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware download

you can format you hard disk and make two partitions for example C & D and keep the first part just for the program that usually in use.
