1TB showing as 100GB

I've installed an internal 1TB HDD but when i click on the drive's properties in 'My Computer' (Win XP32) it shows as 100GB... Any ideas...?????

Earlier to a post you made mate. Youve just re-installed xp etc.

Suggest you update fully through windows update then try as i have just noticed that in earlier releases Sp1/2 etc they only accepted so much gb from an external drive.

I would firstly see what its showing at in bios.

i've updated.. in disk management it shows the full 1TB but most is unallocated..?



Same for the laptop too.. anything over 127GB is unallocated..??

then allocate it as a seperate partition and everything will be groovy.

make sure to format it as ntfs or fat32 any of the others will only allow so much space to be allocated due to filesystem restrictions.

fat32 will only allow files under 4gb to be present too, so if your making dvd iso's then you wont be able to store those on a fat partition.

Another option would be to format under windows setup, partition as you see fit using what sizes you want, the down side would be you'd have to reinstal windoze if thats your system drive.

Personally i would partition it up as 1tb of space is allot of space, so if its your only disc you could splice it into 2 and save all your files to the non system partition, just saves backing up each time you need to reinstal windoze.

Used Disk Management to format the partition... Now called the J: Drive @ 803.52GB..

About to do same trick with my laptop..

there is anotherway to use Hiren's BootCD 9.8

you can download it from site below burn it as iso using nero or magic iso there are plenty of good information on the cd
