Hi my acer has faild. It want boot and when start up go to repair and then gray screen or restarts. I need my data of the c and d drive. Before wipe can I get to the info by force. Any 1 any ideas windows 7 on it and only have back up discs for clean install

Try removing the drive & putting it in a caddy. You might be able to access the data using it as an external drive...but only if the fault is with the boot sector.
If the computer you use can detect the drive but can't get access you might be able to recover data with Diskdigger.Canker

yes thats the best thing to do. iv done some were windows and the recovery software could not detect the hdd. so I have then ran hdd regenerator to repair any bad sectors. then gone back to the recovery software and its works a treat most of the time.Try removing the drive & putting it in a caddy. It will only work as long as the hdd hasnt expired died ie not powering up...................I know you believe you understand what you think i said

What kind of caddy and al buy 1 off ebay as see there cheap. Thanx guys. So just pop in and use other pc n extract basicallyComment

You just need a cheap 2.5" sata caddy, pretty sure it's a sata drive. It really makes no difference on make...just as long as it works.
If you're not sure if it's sata or IDE, remove the drive & check the connections.Canker
