In win XP Does anyone know why I cant acess google, yahoo, or bing in IE. under ''manage search providers" (top right ) says these three not available, only happened recently. I installed Firefox.. still the same, also not able to use system restore, haVe run AVG found nothing. not sure wats going on, Any ideas?

could try running malwarebytes, if you have a virus its not garunteed avg will find it or any other resident av tbh, you should be able to get to system restore in safe mode, tap f8 on boot to get into safe mode, but if you have a virus you really need to get rid of it first.support mountain resue

Why do people still use IE? They might as well hand out invites to all the nasties floating around to come & infest their computer.
Avast has also improved it's detection rate, I've actually seen it beat malwarebytes in scans on my own systems.
Malwarebytes pro now has some excellent tools to help recover from infestations. 'Chameleon' gets malwarebytes running after being blocked by nasties. Then there's an anti-root kit for removing those pesky critters.Canker
