    Please HELP

Hi guys. I need help to install win 98. On that comp I already have an XP but for some car diagnostic tools I need windows 98. How to install it? It's been a lot since I was using it. You can't run setup from XP and I don't have a floppy hardware to use system disk. Is there a chance to install win98 aldough I have XP because I also have multiple pariotions? How to run DOS, FORMAT HDD AND INSTALL WIN98 or WIN ME? PLease, I need urgent help.

    Thanks in advance!!!

it might be worth running it on a Virtual Machine, download VirtualBox install it, Put the 98 disk in then run the program and install from the cdrom. you've then got a virtual Win98 machine that u can fire up when needed.

easiest solution might be to get a portable usb floppy drive but its going to cost you about 10-15 quid

          check out this thread

Ok this might be worth a try....

Have you tried booting from win98 CD on computer start up ? if not.. give it a go. if all else fails.. ill do my best to explain the next step...

                  which is below.........

1st create a bootable DOS cd (here)....
Bart's way to create bootable CD-Roms (for Windows/Dos)

once you have created the bootable CD.. fire up windows XP..
goto my computer & Create a Folder on your C:drive give it any name but NOT "Windows".

Put your win98 Cd in and open the Folder on the Cd (if i can remember rightly its called) "i386" and copy all the files in this folder to the folder you have just created on the C: Drive.

once you have copied all these files to your hard drive, restart your computer removing the windows 98 disc & put in the bootable DOS cd you created. make sure your computer is set to boot from CD or if you have a "boot option" on your computer start-up, use that to boot from Cd-drive

once in DOS it should just be the C:\> command prompt type the following in.....

                  CD\ (press enter)
CD(spacebar)"type in the folder name where u copied the files from the Win98cd" (then hit Enter)
                  for example: CD Win98 (Enter)

It should now look like this.... C:\Win98>
now type in ... "Setup.exe" (press Enter)

and away you go this will start to install Win98.

I hope this helps... if not stick another post on here & ill try to see what i can do.

                  Regards

                  Street.

Do you have the win 98 cd?

It will be easiest to format a usb stick/memcard with the win 98 boot files, this will give you the grounds to start the process.

Format the hdd, aint it something like format c: ?
run set up off the cd.

I gonna set this up as need a format
