    what graphics card to buy?

    Calling all PC gurus...

My graphics card in my desktop has died!

There are sooo bloody many to choose from.

I don't do gaming...just web stuff and the odd application. The only thing i need is dual DVI connectors and wouldn't want to pay more than ?40.

The current card is an ATI Radeon X800GT so probably would be good to stick with ATI since the drivers are already on the PC.

    Anyone got any recommendations please?

    Thanks!

gf 8xxx series is awesome for dual HD out (i can bust out 2 screens of 1080p without sweating, they should also be dirt cheap nowadays.

ive always stuck to Nvidia, ive had a few ATI cards and always wound up with driver issues (this was back when you had either an ATI rage pro turbo or Nvidia TNT/ GF1 to pick from)

Halflife and TFC hated my ATI cards without some driver fixes and scripting to workaround.

Nvidia always had beter dual output support too and linux source.

                  Graphic Cards

Choice is a problem. I have a new Advent which had a crappy motherboard chip which was OK in so far as it ran games but Second Life for for a few months only then blacked me out. Linden said that the program only ran on specific GCs so i bought what was at the top I could afford - ATI Radeon 3800 for UK ? 79. Still would not run SL which i was heavily invested in. I had around 15 "Tickets" to SL and admittefly they responded immediatyely with all sorts of suggetion. none of which sllowed me to log on to their program. Now it seems that they have some dispute with ATI on the 3800 and are "In talks" with them. ATI have not responded to my query of what this marital disagreement is although some guys have said that as SL are just pro Nividea. So I'm stuck with what seems a good 3800 GC but will not perform at all with the program I want it it.
If there are any SL' ers around can they make any suggestions - I know I should have RTFM but that just says 3800 or better

Maybe I should just scrap the ATI card and go for Nividea putting my loss down to a bad experience?
