    XP Restore point problem.

I have tried to use restore point, however I get the message:
Your computer cannot be re-stored to:
I have tried new re-store points getting the same message.
I have checked re-store is switched on.
Idea?s to solve the problem please.
    All Sorted now guys, Thanks.

      XP Restore.

      Hi Tvjunky,
      This prob rings a bell.
Sometime back, using my old faithful Dell Dimensoin 3100 wih Norton internet security onboard,,,,,had similar prob.
Found the answer in Compoter active, consisted of altering some settings temporarily in Norton at that time, and was then able to set Restore points as reqd.
If required I can delve through Back issues to find exact fix for you.
Or maybe simpler for u to google search....Good luck...

      Cheers, port06

        Yes could well be.
Tried a so called FREE? Prog’ that would scan and find all errors, correct the errors and restore the computer so that it would run 70% faster.
After downloading and running the program it refused to correct the errors until I paid a registration fee.
        I deleted the program instead.

I dont use the restore points at all, but i am guessing that its either been turned off under the system properties. Is there any particular reason you need to do a restore?

If all your data is backed up on another disc/drive, i would be a format.

Yes Apologies, when you click the link you will understand.
All sorted now I turned off the restore, re-booted and switched restore back on.
                        Works fine now.
