    ACER Laptop Problem

Hi I have an ACER laptop that is around 2 years old and I have always kept very good care of it.

I was using it this morning and it was fine, no signs of anything wrong but when I tried to turn it on tonight the screen just stays off.

The laptop comes on and stays on whilst the charger is plugged in but still no screen. When the charger is not plugged in, it comes on for around 30 seconds and then goes off. (No screen comes on without the charger either.)

Any help would be much appreciated.

Look closely it might been the screen comes on but the backlight is staying off might b able to see a glimmer of the screen
try booting the PC into the bios hold F2 or del on start up then you'll know for sure if its a duff screen or setting

I have done that and the screen is definitely not coming on. Would a broken screen cause it to go back off after about 30 seconds?

sound like the gfx card has pooped its self it could be that its gotten to hot and fired itself off the board

blocked fan heatsink and unmounted heatsink from gpu from expanded screw maybe or it could just be the screen cable has worn at the hinged and broken

but at the moment u must take your hdd out! u dont want that spinning up and shutting down while trying to fix ur laptop

also take out the ram and try booting the laptop and swap sticks and ports when trying (try it with none first)

Thanks for all the replies. I left it on charge for nearly a whole day and it came on fine, and has worked fine since. Is it something I should worry about? (Nothing stored on there so no need to worry about losing files.)

maybe your battery isnt working properly or a system config tat tells the laptop to stay off until it reaches it certain programmed power storage ???

try booting the laptop without the battery

is this related to the other post? http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...top-363859/The

laptop comes on and stays on whilst the charger is plugged in but still no screen. When the charger is not plugged in,
it comes on for around 30 seconds and then goes off. (No screen comes on without the charger either.) take your laptop
battery out and plugin charger in and turn on laptop does it stay on and does your laptop give pictures on your screen
                    like normally?

Would a broken screen cause it to go back off after about 30 seconds? maybe?
if it affects the cables? sometimes not sometimes you get the screen working one of those things

(worse case)could of been overcharged or left in badly vented condition
where heat got to the hardware maybe if it is hardware its most like the vram which is most common
part of the hardware on gpus

                    as for the black screen

thats most likely a software issue
either a corrupt driver issue or software configuration boot order/mbr need reinstalling/retyping depending
on your preference of fixing computers.
