Hi guys, i need a bit of help. My computer has crashed on me a couple of times now after i`ve downloaded things off the net. It`s cost me a few quid to get it back up & running & each time it`s the same thing, i`ve D/L`d a load of viruses aswell. Can anyone advise on what i can do incase it happens again so i don`t have to pay someone to take out the bugs & get me going again. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks. By the way i have AVG, SPYBOT ect. but they`ve bypassed these in the past & when i try to boot my comp up it does nothing, just a blank screen.

You mean you still can't boot the pc up ? If you have installed anything lately boot into safe mode and uninstall anything you have recently installed. Then install a proper security suite RapidShare: Easy Filehosting
THE TRUTH
The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12
Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'. -
boot in safe mode and has you have avg anti virus use it to do a complete scan of your pc while in safe mode.Hi guys, i need a bit of help. failing that do a system restore which will remove anything you have downloaded recently.
if you download anything in future before you open it right click on it scan it with your av software which should be listed.Last edited by dasteph; 22 June, 2009, 17:26.sigpicComment

Thanks guys, the comp is fine now as it`s been " wiped clean & new O/S installed", from what the man who got me working again said. But when it was '~~~~ed', i couldn`t get on to do any of your recomendations. No REG EDIT or anything. Do you think it would be best to have an O/S downloaded onto a disc ready incase it all happens again? Thanks for taking the time to answer & putting up with my lack of knowledge.Comment

Make a back up disc m8. I use Acronis to make a back up of my pc. Then if it goes tits up it takes about 10 minutes to reinstall everything. So if you make a back up now when you reinstall it everything will be as it is now.
There are other progs out there like Ghost etc. Nero used to have a computer back up app built into it, i don't know if it still has.

You should keep all files, pictures, music all important things on a second partition/hard drive.
Also i dont think AVG cuts it as a anti virus, i use Avast, if you download and instal the home premium, then register they give you a 12 months code.
I have this on 5 machines at least and not 1 has had a major problem what is virus related.
FREE antivirus software with spyware protection: avast! Home Edition
