    bios update issue

ok, ive got an old hp/compaq desktop dc5100 with windows xp, it wont boot up, trying to put windows 7 32 bit on it...after a while of installling windows 7, i get a nessage saying " the system is not full ACPI compliant - try updating your bios"...so how do i update the bios if the pc wont boot up in the first place ?. I ve downlaode the latest bios for my pc and its in the .exe fromat which i presume you run when the pc has booted up but i cannot do that, is their any alternative way to do it ?. I can get into the setup of my pc by pressing the F10 key but there is no option in there to update bios ?

trouble is after many attempts at installing windows xp again it, install all the files up to 97% then it pops up a message saying "cannot install some.dll file..i retry but it doesnt go any further..or if i choose to ignore it says windows xp may not run....and just hangs at that point...

Let me guess you download some pirated version of windows 7 from a dodgy site, as thats normally the main cause of the error ACPI compliant error and not the BIOS

Here are the direct Download links from Microsofts Digital Partner (Digital River)

          Home Premium x86

          Professional x86

          Windows Ultimate x86
