Your driver.cab is corrupt. This is sometimes caused by having a bad XP install CD !! ior you have a bad CDROM drive.

Do you have another CDROM DRIVE ?

You could also try SKIPPING the file has It doesn't really matter missing that file, just means when you put some new hardware in it won't be able to install it without you putting in the CD.

However, you will find driver.cab in C:\WINDOWS\Driver Cache\i386
There are also a few other files in there, exactly what depends on your system, though.

its either the cd or the drive m8

and usually from experience its the drive

its not reading the content of the cd properly so its causing an error, just swop another drive in so u can install win

usually CDrom but also could be hard disk with dodgy sectors as setup tries to cache the cabs to the hard disk.

might be worth getting something like hirens' bootcd to do a disk check too.

i have also known this to be the ram but i would defo try another disc/drive then hard drive as they are the most likely cause.

i think its the disc as well less chance of being the cd/dvd drive but its possible depending on how much its been used and heat there is by it.

            you could try 2 options

            1.get another xp disc
2.try and repair the current disc (use somethink with a soft surface to wipe it with if you do )
