Help: Toshiba satellite pro L850 wont charge.

    Happy new yr guys,

I wondering if somebody can help me.
Last Christmas i bought 2 new identical Toshiba L850-1KM laptops. 1 for me and 1 for my eldest son.

A week before Christmas the lad fell asleep and the laptop fell of the floor snapping the plug on the charger.
I bought a replacement because of the damaged connector but it doesn't seem to want to charge, even with my charger.

If i charge his battery on my laptop it works perfectly for hours before it goes flat. So battery is OK.

With the adapter plugged in it says plugged in, charging but it isn't. It also will not run off the adapter.

I'm guessing there is a fuse/diode that has blown as the connector terminals shorted out.

I have contacted Toshiba for warranty and they have said i need to provide a receipt for the laptop but i paid cash and have no way of contacting him. (all to save a few quid) bad move.

Can anybody offer any help before i have to start stripping it, voiding any possible warranty?

A little late i know but id thought id let you know what the problem was just in case somebody else has the same issues..
The problem was down to a power management IC.

Mine also went faulty. Mine wouldnt turn on. Charge light was OK. Power LED came on but no display..
This turned out to be a faulty bios IC.
