Automatic update problem

Hi Guys

One of my friends PCs is having a problem with automatic updates. Every time it automatically updates it looses the internet connection. But the machine can see the router.

I have to restore the machine to an earlier backup.

I think it may be a security update or something like that?

However i am a mac person am not that great with Vista

Any ideas would be appreciated

turn off the automatic updates and update manually to see whether the problem persists.
