    toshiba laptop bios locked

    hi guys

    i have toshiba lappy bios is locked due too my son messing with it can i bypass it or unlock it
    any ideas appreciated

    you could try the following.

    Most Toshiba laptops and some desktop systems will bypass the BIOS password if the left shift key is held down during boot

      There is some master password that might work when the bios password is forgotten.

        update : tried your suggestions and no joy at all

        and its hard disk drive password not the BIOS ....my mistake in saying BIOS

        i have got the BIOS password but come will not boot it asks me to input HDD Password

          do you mean user acc password if so try the followig thread Vista user account locked?

            hi

            its not a user password its a hdd password

            it prompts you too enter it when i power on the lappy

            my son entered it messing about ive asked him and he cant remember it (looks like money down the drain)

              from what i can find out either way it will cost you to unlock or install a new hard drive, some of the unlock software also wipe the hd to make it accessible, the choice is yours.

                We never put a password on the hdd as far as I can remeber they cannot be reset. I think you will need to format the hdd to remove the password.

                  yeah a HDD password can be removed but it costs (not as much as you may think).. the HDD will still have the password if inserted in another laptop if you don't remove it (therefore its useless). i know guys that can remove it but you will have to ask them with regards to the data etc... pm me if you want their contact info
