I bought unofficial cyan and magenta ink cartridges for the printer a while back. They worked fine in the beginning with no errors, but now when I try printing something I get a notification that the cartridges are not recognized. Though it's been a while when I printed last time. I've probably used about half of them both and there should be still plenty of ink left. I also tried if they have dried out, and I got my fingers messed with ink. Is there a way to reset the printer somehow to get the cartridges to work again or download some drivers etc? I won't buy new official Epson cartridges when you can get a new printer at the same price. And the next printer won't definitely be Epson.

I used compatible inks in my RX600, for about 6 months it said 'Not original, yada yada, warranty etc'.
After about 6 months it stopped saying this. I still use 6 inks for ?6 in it, rather than Epsoms ?78 for 6 inks and I bought it in 2004, still going strong.
I also said I would never buy Epson again after my little used Photo 120 printer dried up. Cost new ?120 cost to repair ?90.. luckily I have alzheimers and bought the RX600. -
Did the printer software/firmware update?
Recent Epson printers can update their firmware via wifi or your PC connection. If this has happened you will need to find someone who can flash it with customized firmware.
Had to get this do on an XP312. Software updated & the copy inks refused to work. It can also disable original inks if the manufacture date is deemed to old.
If the firmware wasn't updated then the chips on the carts are goosed.
New carts with updated chips came into the country in february. You might need to find someone who has these in stock.Canker
