    By sound of it they reinstalled windows, easy process, i suggest that you learn how to do it, you tube have good videos on the matter, this will save you money in the long run.

    I used to get loads of pcs to fix with very similar problems to yours.

      some pcs you have to make a recovery cd as some dont come with a oprating system if you brought it from the shop preinstalled all i can say about your pc not coming on is that norton could of deleted some of the important files out of registery system if you had a virus in the system and it copied its self into the main part norton could of deleted it hench making your pc non bootable you need to some how get into safe mode and do a system restore.

        ye that sounds about right from what the bloke said to me..

        i now have a windows xp home cd. so if this happens again i should be ok.

          easy fix for the future, have another hdd with winows installed. if your pc fails, just plug it in as a master drive and start the pc, you can then run checks on the hdd that is giving you jip, like restore and reconfigure the system file ect
