does kill disk do a full wipe of hard disk but writing 0 on all sectores multiple times, if so no chance of getting data back.

I know may be a stupid question, but why didnt you back up your data before do the kill disk application.

people tend to forget about backup strategy (only saying this as I work as a backup specialist).. to recover data from any media can cost up to 20k (yes done this years ago when a tape we had wouldnt read and had to send it off to a company to recover data and they charged 20 thousand pounds)

it could work but maybe a kill drive is different to a format but it does a full format recover-__ it is worth downloading but a point is you need a separate drive to recover too...not the formatted drive. worth a try

Kill disk works in a differant way than doing a format. So i doubt will be recoverable data worth scanning for. Also dont forget when you format you are formatting to the os, ie linux/win/apple based, all differant

Get the original XP disk, put it back in, Select new install (not recovery console), it'll detect the previous windows installation and then select 'Repair'. Job done, it re-installs over the top. Replaces the system files yet leaves your data and program files in tact - including drivers, settings, emails - everything.

killdisk is designed specifically to make sure nothing can be recovered from it. you have no chance of getting anything back.
