    Usb driver problems

I have this ecs G31T-m7 pc that was fine untill the lads loaded a few games . The games are working fine but now I have usb problems , a common error would be "the usb device is not recognized " , my diagnostic equipment works ok but usb memory sticks and my usb modem dont , any ideas ?

did u create a recent restore point u could use to go back to a time when everything was working?

have u tried the usb n modem on another computer? and have u tried pluggin anything thing else into the usb's?

Try disabling the driver. then deleting the driver from system folder (driver properties will tell you where is is located and what to lok for)

Reboot and try installing once again

Thank you for all of the above help , I have done all of the above and now the pc picks up flash drives smaller than 8 gigs only , the usb modem dongle reloads itself and at the end of the installation does a rollback and then windows reports that it was not installed and that the drivers should be updated ?? The dongle does work on my other pc s and laptop , should I try reinstall windows itself ?

yes if u are able to install a fresh O/S then do it just make sure u have backed up everything u want to save and do a solid format on the drive u want to put the O/S on

While the computer is down take it apart and clean it get out all the dust from in and around the ports

You could also try USB ports on the back of the tower and not the front

(those directly on the motherboard and not the case) Just incase there is a issue with the USB Header from the motherboard

Already tried that , what is strange is that the device manager picks up the dongle , tries to install the drivers and then windows reports that the drivers could not be installed "acess denied "

There should be a setup program on the dangle. Have you tried running that as admin
