    compaq c300 Laptop Problems

    i have a Compaq Presairo c300 which has suffered some rain damage and blown the motherboard no power at all. luckly i asked a gent on ebay who was breaking one and got his motherboard for ?5 (Bargin) now i have reassembled the laptop and now upon startup the fan kick's in lovely and the cd drive start's to read then i get nowt. black screen and flashing power light button. i have done all the thing's i know which i will list below apart from these things does anyone else have any idea's?

    start with battery out on ac power
    remove cmos battery for 5 mins
    remove lcd screen power and connet to tv
    removed ram and re-seated.
    removed hdd and start up.

    Have you double checked if this motherboard has cpu lock in correct position , most laptop motherboards has cpu lock which if its not in the correct position it will not post.

    Edit. Its usually on the cpu socket.

        From your other post it seems above information also didnt work. Just for information see below link which is a service pdf document for your laptop. Look into page 160 which shows the processor removal and the locking mechanism i was talking about to make sure processor is working ok and the problem is else where.
