    laptop heath check..

i would like to know what i have just had done to my laptop?

i waz having a few problems with it so i took it to my local computer shop to see what they could do. It all works fine now and all they did, so they said, was they run it through a health cheak?

    what is this?

is this something i could do myself in future?

I only paid ?35 for this to be done, was it worth it?

It is probably a list of tasks they have compiled and call it health check. List could be anything to be honest.

Scan for viruses, trojans, adware etc
Delete Temporary files , clean cookies etc
Check startup items and clean if necessary.
Check process running on your computer and unload if its not needed.
    Run registry cleaning tools
    Run disk checking tools
    Run defrag programs
    Uninstall left over programs.
    Reinstall or update codecs
    Update Drivers and or bios.
    Update windows
Cleaning fans or reapplying thermal paste.
Temperature check, benchmark programs or stress testing etc.
Above list are the basic stuff you should do or they might have done, though becareful when using registry cleaners as not all programs do what they say on the box. Those are the stuff which comes into my mind right now and not in particular order , could be more obviously.

    Good Luck.

        THE TRUTH
        The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

I find the best way to sort stuff out when windows is either slow, hitting problems ect is a total format and reinstal of it. This will do all the above and if your files you need to keep are on another drive/partition then it takes no more than an hour to totally restore the system with a clean instal of windows

If they cleaned fans and re-applied thermal paste then i suppose it was worth the cash. Whereas a health scan can be done yourself with your (which i assume you have) antivirus software.

If you havnt previously done it i wouldnt reapply thermal paste yourself without guidance. You can fry your CPU

i normally don't like/trust those "all in 1 tune up utilities" but i've changed my mind with this one : Free PC Repair, Protection & Clean Up | Advanced SystemCare Free Computer Scan, Optimizer, Maintenance it's a handy little tool
