for a dvr1044 pci card its a cctv card for my desktop, the one which came with it is damaged., help appreciated!

Can you tell me which dvr application you were using with this card, as most of these cards pretty much has BT878 chip inside which is compatible with most drivers but the problem will be video and audio channels layout will be different , although you might install the driver you might not see anything on the screen. However if you can give us the name of the original recording program it will be more usefull.
You can also find the "device instance id" in details tab by going into device properties of the unknown device ( as you havent installed the driver ) in control panel.
e.g PCI\VEN_1797
This might help identify the driver as well.
