    Diskeeper/defragment problems.....

ive been using the program "diskeeper pro 2008" to defragment my drives and it works great.

BUT, its a crack copy i have and it stopped working, so i tried to reinstall it etc and still it was no good, so i downloaded another copy of the cracked version which i think is just the same as what i have anyway, and it still didnt work, so i uninstalled it.

Problem i have now though is that i cant even defragment my drives using windows built in defrag utility (which i believe is made by diskeeper too), when i try and do it the windows way it says "no defrag tool is currently installed".

So what do i do guys, is there a way to sort this or maybe even another defrag program as good as diskeeper or possibly even better ??

    p.s
    its windows vista i have.

Maybe try a different keygen or serial to get it working?

Or get a registry cleaner to clean all existance of the previous install; Registry Mechanic is good.

i tried Ccleaner, i think that does the registry too, not sure though, the registry is summit iam not keen in messing with as you know what can happen should things ~~~~ up, .

And the keygen and serial, well there aint one, its a file you copy to the install folder, one of those ones.

ok, i downloaded and installed the latest version of registry mechanic, ran a scan and fixed all problems etc, but still the diskeeper program is no good, it doesnt give me the option to "never register" etc, thats where the problem lies, am i using the registry mechanic properley ??

how do i know if its removing the all the remaining parts of diskeeper ? it found about 300 problems, i cant go through all them one by one looking, so i just says to repair the lot and it did, but like i says, still not getting any joy

Maybe i should just use another disk defrag program, probably quicker, , anyone know of one thats as good or better than diskeeper ?

clean the old programme from your registry

        Start, all programs, Accessories, run

type in regedit and delete any folders, strings that represent the old reg cleaner,

Then check that the software folder has been deleted in your programme files folder too.

then try to install the newer one

You could have tried .. start + run (windows button + r) and dfrg.msc

Contig v1.54 from sysinternals is a handy command line defrag tool.

i had a similar problem using this program, at first wasnt sure it was to do with vista but more than likely it will be the crack, i swapped to perfect disk 8 and all is well now
