Hdd failure

I have a Toshiba satellite laptop and my hdd has failed. It's not recognised in bios. Bought a new hdd and changed boot settings to boot from usb but when booting says boot thingy not detected. I know the Info for Windows 8 is on the usb as it's shows on another pc any idea on how to get Winows Installed on the new hdd.
