    computer not powering up

hi i need help my desktop playing up when i press the power button to power the computer up i see the red light coming up and then it dies down if i take the power cord out from the back of the pc and put it back 2 or 3 times it then power ups and works fine i though it might be the power cable to the mains but have put another one and it still has the same problem.

is my power supply faulty? it iritates to keep taking out the cable and puting it back several time before it actualy starts up.
    thanks in advance.
