Windows 7 very very slow at booting up !

i thought vista took the award for the slowest booting operating system on the go, so now ive installed windows 7 ultimate and guess what, wow ! the boot time is unbelievably slow, so slow even the wife commented about it which is summit, .

i dont know if its cause its a cracked copy or what, but its poor on booting man, ive not timed it but at a guess its "at least" twice the time it takes vista to boot.

after its booted it appears to work fine though, although i can honestly say that theres not any great difference from it and vista, no big deal at all and i dont know why people are in a hurry to get windows 7.

the booting problem, anyone any ideas ?

It could be because of a loader taking too much time. I have heard other users reporting similar slow loading times and by using different loaders they have managed to sort out the problem.

depends on a number of factors

the quality of installation of the operating system - if it installed wrong from the start well your doomed haha
the state of the registry - use tuneup utilites to defrag the registry and speed up the comp
file structure - defragment the system
              configuring the OS for speed
windows settings - on my computer right click then advanced
turn off fade settings and slide settings
registry settings - current user - control panel -desktop click on the list inside the desktop folder press M until you see MenuShowDelay doubleclick and change to 0 if you pc is fairly old change to 10
knowing what softwares make it slow and make it fast.

dont know if this has anything to do with it, but i downloaded what i thought was an iso version so that i could burn it to dvd and do a clean install from dvd but the ~~~~in thing turned out to be a load of files with an install exe file and it allowed me to actually install it from the desktop screen which i found very strange.

You either have a dodgy trojan infested version (not all downloads available from the internet are clean) or you extracted the ISO which then you ended up running some kind of upgrade on the installation which you previously had.

Suggestion -: Get a new download off the BAY with good comments regarding the torrent then burn to DVD as an image. Then I'm sure you know your way around after that.

What you did was an update i believe, try booting from the cd and do a fresh install.

                          well adpdate :::>

not good news , last night it was booting fast in maybe about 45seconds or so, and then after installing all my latest hardware drivers etc now my boot speed is away back to as bad as it was before this fresh install, now its approx 1 minute 5-10seconds our more, so its back to more or less the same shit boot time before i reinstalled, how dissapointing is that man

                          p.s
just checked the boot speed booting into safe mode and that only slightly faster, maybe 5 seconds or so faster

yes mate, it works, i got your pm too thanks

but the copy i had was also a pre activated full copy, and i done a full fresh install (not an upgrade).

it worked amzing to start with, was booting in like 45seconds, but then after i started to load all my drivers for all my hardware etc, thats when i noticed the boot time had just went back to being shit like it was before, now it takes approx 1minute 20 seconds to boot from a cold start right up to a useable desktop, thats a lot more than first installed when it was booting in 45seconds

Ive been reading all over the internet millions of people complaining about shit boot times with windows 7, and yes they are right, shit boot times, i know you will always get some people that say its working fine but i bet they have a lightweight computer, i bet its just a very very basic machine and not much hardware etc, in those situations any operating system will boot fast, but in a bit of a heavy duty rig like mines as far as i can see windows 7 dont like to boot up quickly, after it boots its just fine, so i dont know if this is yet just another piece of shit that microsoft have produced without working on it properly, with the amount of people complaining about it all over the internet it seems like a bit of a dud on the booting issue
