    ie and firefox crashing

had ie installed on wifes laptop and it kept crashing. Installed firefox and it seemed pretty stable till tonight now doing the same. Both browsers will open some pages but whenever try to navigate away from a page with a search for instance it shuts down. Tried all the firefox safe mode stuff etc and problem is still there. As far as I can see the only software installed recently is ACDSee tried uninstalling that but it had no effect. Suggestions would be helpful.

have you scanned you puter for crap recently.. you should be able to clean it up and sort it out..

try these for starters.. they are free to download... just use google as that still works..

    spybot S&D
    adaware by lavasoft

leave them installed and add spywareblaster for future protection..

With firefox its best to use the 'noscript' add on..

what AV and firewall products do you currently use?
