    Blue Screen Of Death

Ok here goes and hoping someone can help with this 1 as tried allot.

    New build :

    Motherboard P5QL-E Asus
    Ram - 4gb Corsair dominator 1066
    GFX - XFX 280

Getting random BSOD, differant codes. Thought could be an overheating issue as seemed to settle when i put my smaller card in ( 9500gt) and heat sink was blowing downwards. Now changed to a stock, swapped most things unplugged what i can, i am now on my last 2gb ram, if this fails then looking like cpu/motherboard.

These are random errors and eventlog aint picking them up. When they happen i will post codes. The first i got was "STOP: C0000221 unknown hard error" or "STOP: C0000221. Again no use when googled.

Any advice would be helpfull but again i am intermediate at these.

    Thanks guys

    basics

pull power cable/plug for 10 seconds while power is off disconnect open case check all cables are connected inside firmly like hard drive sata cables, power connectors in case etc

put in power cables then go bios check temperature to see if your comp is getting too hot and if smartfan is enabled disable it.check cpu and hard drive temps there the ones that cause the most crashes for overheating.

or could just be a hard drive problem check for bad sectors using chkdsk cmd or recovery console also defragment it.

but cant really be much help without proper codes.

According to your error code it could be a corrupt driver file.

"STOP: C0000221 unknown hard error" or "STOP: C0000221 STATUS_IMAGE_CHECKSUM_MISMATCH" error message occurs

OK just been through this. Win 7 BSOD VISTA BSOD XP BSOD.

I should have wrote them down and i know better. I got general hardware fault installing vista, got vista on by swapping gfx card. Tonight swapped heat sink on cpu for better flo, had 1 BSOD since

Thanks but not a driver issue as i can tell

New GFX card typically means more power.

GFX cards can wreak havoc on a system with a weak PSU.

Don't be surprised if your next post is about a faulty or dead PSU

personally m8 i would get the latest Hirens boot disc and check the hard drives and the memory etc

bench test everything till you find it

i had a similar prob a while ago where all worked fine and eventually it was traced to the upper memory sectors in one of the sticks, and it only happened under certain types of loading

                  Hiren's BootCD 10.0 - www.hiren.info

Its a boot cd which has many usefull utilities.

As for the main poster, Try running memtest to make sure memory subsystem is fine.

Yeah that seems to be the only option, since pulling a 2gb dimm seems ok, so looking like faulty ram, so will test it over night.#

                    Thanks Chim m8

I have a asus max formula board with same ram, also built several sys with P5's and same ram - it is definately the ram, you need to do some tweaking in bios, basically overclock cpu and fsb, if possible best leave NB voltage but only adjust as last option,

every systems figures differ slightly but you van use the following as rough guide and try to achieve as close as possible, a little over is no prob

                      FSB : 415
RAM voltages need to go up to 2.1 / 2.2 max

in bios u have a choice to emulate ram : select the closest to 1066 after u have upped FSB and voltages.

Be patient and dont panic because you will have to restart many times and often get message of overclock failure
                      just drop or increase numbers

Officially the ram is not compatible with mobo, i may be wrong but then again the official business just there to cover legal ass.

I have ram at 1098 with FSB at 415 on a Q6600 CPU - i can go higher and squeez out 1150 ram but that means upping NB voltage which i prefere not to do as i want a stable Overclock for a long time. CPU gone to 3.4 from 2.4 and has been running on air cooling for almost a year.

i will reboot check figures and help you further, i had BSOD left right centre at start and never thought it could be RAM, that is it aint gettin nuff juice and mobo is a little to slow to accommodate.
