Bought new Monitor and have lost PC sound???

Hi Folks,

I've just bought my Father-in-Law a new Hanns-G Hi221D monitor, I've plugged it in and visually it is great but i've lost the sound on his PC. Can anyone advise me how to fix it?

hi m8 did monitor come with software if not go to website of hanns-g and download or get a driver detective good luck

Well just to make sure i hope he wasnt using monitor speakers as the main speakers as you got the monitor now

First thing first , is it a onboard sound card or seperate pci sound card.
In Windows Device Manager , ( Start > Control Panel > System > Hardware Tab > Device Manager )
Check Sound and Video Controllers and make sure device is showing up in the list without any errors.

Thanks guys all sorted now. I used driver dectective and it sorted the driver for me.
