Beep Beep Beep HP Advent Laptop

Hi i gave my HP Advent Laptop to my son ,all was working well then it just went blank. it powers up with nothing on the screen and keeps going BEEP BEEP BEEP, ive opened it up and the memory has a sticky fluid on it at 1 off the chips, could this be the problem, and would it stop the screen from coming on , i have also tried conecting it to my PC monitor but its the same ,,no signal.

    Any one got any ideas.
    Thanks Jimmy

has something been spilled and ended up on the memory and caused it to short out, if there is more than one stick of memory remove the offending stick and try to reboot,if it has only one stick then the bad memory will stop the pc from booting.

I think 4 beeps is 'motherboard timer not functioning/ possible motherboard replacement'. I had similar on my laptop computer but had two memory sticks so it was easy to diagnose the problem.

The beeps are coming from memory error. ONLY if you are 100% sure there is fluid marks on the memory module, BUT NOT on the memory socket, you can try testing with a functional memory module. I would take out the battery, use contact spray on the memory socket, leave it 24 hrs for drying and then test with another memory module. Or even better, take out the mainboard and watch for any fluid marks and clean them.

                Good luck!
