    Windows 7

    Hello peeps.
I've just installed windows 7. it installs fine but when the system restarts all i'm getting is a black screen with a cursor flashing up the top corner. have tried re-install a few times but with the same results.
out of frustration, i tried to reinstall vista only to be told that the cd/dvd driver is missing. i had saved all the drivers prior to install of windows 7 but the pc doesn't read the disc.
i require help either to successfully install windows 7 or to reinstall vista.
    thank you please

Well it certainly dodgy as i downloaded from a torrent site .
primary concern is now to re-install vista but keep getting the issue of the cd/dvd driver apparently missing.

i suggest to install XP from a USB Memory Stick to solve dvd/cd issue!!

                then a fresh install of 7 !

                Cheers

ok, managed to get vista ultimate to install but when the pc restarts it goes to the black screen with the cursor again and just hangs. i'm completely flummoxed.

Why dont you format the lot, then partition your drive, install xp on one and them get windows 7 going on the other, that way you always have a back up and can just format the partition with windows 7 on if it hasn't gone smoothly.

This is what I did, just to be SURE I didn't end up in your situation. Hope this helps by the way.
