    Laptop power charge issues

    Hi there

A friend of mine recently lost her Acer laptop's power adapter, and bought a new universal one from Maplins. It worked fine at first, but she's saying that now the laptop just won't start, even with the battery fully charged. I haven't had a chance to see it myself yet but I was hoping to get a few opinions as to what it could be, laptops aren't my specialty :-p more of a desktop man myself.

I'm assuming that there's a fault with the battery itself, I was going to tell her to try a new battery but I'd appreciate a few opinions from more experienced laptop users please.

    Thanks
    -Gary

The laptop can start even without battery, just plug in into AC, that new power adapter maybe is not enough "strong" to start laptop or maybe laptop DC input is down.

Sorry for the very late reply, was on holiday and laptops were the last thing on my mind :-p

And yeah, it turned out her power adapter was the wrong voltage, it blew something at the back of the laptop and she had to get someone to repair it, but it's all good now.

        Thanks anyway!
