Sounds like you?re missing the main board drivers, with your usb2, graphics, modem/wifi ect.Dont know if i'm in the right sec or not but i've reloaded xp on to lappy (crashed last night)tho it looks like i'm missing a few icons. also the wireless connection is crap, keeps going up an down like a yoyo and my other lappy is got good connection. is there something else to load, i have loaded another disc with the drivers. any help would be appreciated. btw its a netgear modem
Anyway you prob can do it without most of them providing you can get the laptop online somehow, (Ethernet or wifi)
Then you can download all of the Microsoft updates, which will hopefully recognise the other hardware that you have, it might take a few updates to find them all, or you can keep going to the Microsoft site & force them quicker. (Making sure the everything is plugged into the laptop so they will be recognised)
Failing that a good program that I use is "Driver Magician", which will scan your system & go online to get the most updated drivers.
Plus if your laptop is a well known brand, go to the website of that brand & look @ the support section for the drivers there..
Once you get the main drivers sorted then you will be ok to install the rest of your software..
Hope this helps
Ian
P.S. If you can?t find the "driver magician" in the downloads section, I could find a way to get it to you if you want... -
cheers Ian went here Downloads - Support - Fujitsu but dont know what i need...took ages to get there tooComment

That?s a good start; I take it that your laptop is a Fujitsu then.cheers Ian went here Downloads - Support - Fujitsu but dont know what i need...took ages to get there too
What?s the mod number?
You might want to try here first, as it seems that this is an (auto update) program, if it is what I think it is, it will hopefully know what drivers you will need, the file is under 1mb.

Downloads - Support - Fujitsu
But before you get that auto program, have a look in the compatibility list to make sure that your laptop is in the list, if it is then try it, & fully read the instructions how to use it.
If that don't work then go back to the link that you found & enter in your details to see where that leads you..
As soon as you get a stable internet connection you can get everything else from the internet.

Hi jasbo
you need to work out what parts are working & whats not, so we can try & get you the rest of the non working drivers,
1. Is the, sound, Usb2, & screen display, working ok?
2. When you say that the speed drops, are you talking about wifi or ethernet, (or both)
3. Have you tried both, so that one or the other can be marked as working.
4. When you installed the chipset + modem/wifi drivers from the Fujitsu website, you said that the laptop speed was better,
so did it then start to get worse after installing ms updates?
5. If so do you remember seeing any modem/wifi drivers in the ms updates that you installed?
Try & give a bit more detialed explanation on each of these & will see if we can get you sorted..

If the drivers from the website were better then go back there & download + install again,
I did notice that If you go to "Other & installation paper" you can download the WLAN installation guide as it prob shows you a specific way to install it.. (might be worth a read first):

"WLAN Installation Guide Windows XP ENG - AMILO M1451G"
"Description:
Language: english
Date: 02.03.2007
File: WLAN_Mx45x_XP_ENG.pdf
Size: 0,24 MB
Version: V1.0"
===========================================
Also there are 2 WLAN drivers on the site, do you know which 1 is in your laptop?
They do look a bit old (2005), but would be tempted to try the ver "9.0.3.9" as it is a slightly later one.
"WLAN
Intel? PRO/Wireless LAN 2200 BG
Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG & 2915ABG Version: 9.0.3.9 Date: 12.09.2005
Size: 1,99 MB Status:
Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Version: 9.0.1.9 Date: 21.01.2005
Size: 1,94 MB Status:
Would think there will be a newer version than that around somewhere, might be worth a search in "Google" & try a few others b4 ms updates changes it again...

Just found this site, on the Intel website...
http://www.intel.com/support/wireles.../CS-025417.htm
Here it shows you how to check what driver you have & also a couple of auto checking tools, to identify what you've got & update the driver...
=========================================
"The following options are available to help you identify your adapter and driver:
Intel? Driver Update Utility
The easiest way to identify your wireless adapter and driver version is to run the Intel Driver Update Utility tool. This tool identifies your adapter and updates your driver to the latest version, if necessary.
Intel? Wireless LAN Identification Utility
You can also identify your adapter and driver version by downloading the Intel? Wireless LAN Identification Utility. This tool only provide adapter and version information. It does not update your driver."

Hope this helps
