Looks like I quoted the tag incorrectly; it was G42HYF1-595B. Strangely enough I updated the BIOS to A18 to see if it would clear it and now my service tag is G42HYF1-3A5B.

unfortunately suffix 3A5B are too new for our calcs and the only ones who can do them are Dell and paid service websites which are expensive.
You need to downgrade your BIOS (I think to A12) which will give it the -595B suffix you can then get the password and remove any passwords in BIOS and if you want then upgrade again

Admin bios password dell latitude D630

Hi i brought my laptop last year of ebay, ive never needed to edit the bios until the hard drive died, the internal was dead when i brought the laptop but i use to set it when windows loaded using the windows time settings, now i have no windows installed and no access to set the time in the bios, i cant manage to install windows 8, can any one help me with this please, my service tag is: 3JCG66Y-595B
