is the memory the origonal memory that came with pc is there more than one piece if so take one out and try booting with only one if nothing happens change them round, or have you got any spare sticks of memory you could put in and try. if the memory is bad even one piece in a number of slots the pc will not boot. computer parts do fail with use but pcs can be brougt back to life when parts are replaced.

did they come out of a thick, white connector with about 20 pins in? or was it a connector with 4 pins? either way sounds like power - you might have caused damage.

disconnect EVERYTHING except the 20 power to the mobo, the 4 pin power to the processor. disconnect drive cables, remove memory - everything. every take out the graphics card.

        see if the beeps change.

the beeps are memory tests, a continuous beeb is faulty memory, as for the bullet things, are you talking a bout the front panel wires? usb?

i had a similar problem a few weeks ago...just a blank screen. Fans & lights were on. I confirmed the grafix card was ok by swapping with a spare & changed output cables I got the same result. Turned out to be a bad connection between the mobo & case. To verify I pulleed out the Mobo & placed it on some insulating material, only left power connections & grafix card intact...away she went booted with output to screen.

Do the lights on the front of the tower look as though the system is trying to boot or are they just the power on lights? I am thinking memory or graphics for this one. As suggested previously, try disconnecting everything and going through it all one by one.

If you can remember the series of beeps (or lack of them) or if they are different when you try something else it would be a help to try and diagnose the problem.

Or you could just give it a bloody great kick. Probably wouldn't work but you may feel a bit better for it (humour)

does sound like the hdd, check the connections 1st. then put your xp disc in and boot, select r for repair. i should give you the option to run a chkdsc this is a scan disk utility that fixes most errors

you can get windows to do this for you also but you need to get windows running, if it does boot go to properties on your hdd and click tool/maintanance(cant remember the name) there you will see chkdsk. select the 2 tabs and it will schedule a scan on next reboot.

if i am reading this right on the POST test you are getting bleeps count the bleeps this will tell you where the fault is

as for the f12 and cmos it will be the cmos batt 2023 replace that reset everything

you might find that will cure the problems
