    downgrade vista to xp

my pc crashed (running XP media centre) and I had a (copy) of vista premium lying around so I decided to load the vista disc, anyway the pc is very slow running vista( 2gb ram P4 processor) so I tried to load xp back with no joy. I downloaded a copy of xp pro corporate sp3 and tried that but when the option screen comes up i can't select install xp. A lot of threads I read have all had vista preinstalled on them so the pc's might not have the right drivers to run xp. mine has , just need to find a way to get it done. I have all essentials backed up to the external drive so I'm not worried about formatting the hard drive if I need to.

Burn iso to disk> insert into cd drive> reboot> select f12 or whatever takes you to boot menu!

the only way to install xp on a machine running vista is to format the hd it will not install over the top, you may have to download any drivers required for xp as some of your back up drivers might not work in xp.
