Hi... new to this forum, I am currently trying to fix a Dell Latitude D520 which a friend's son has apparently password protected then promptly forgot the password. Now it's giving the "this computer is protected by a password authentication system", etc message with the #5YM5WB1-595B id tag. Can anyone help me with finding a master password for this? I've already pulled the power/battery/cmos battery to no effect. Thank-you Soooooooooooooo much!!!

Hi smoggy,
System password worked wonderfully, thank you so much!... now it's saying the hdd is similarly locked. the ID it's giving me is cp0xgk4mvgg-595b ( the 3rd is a zero). I've not run into this type of security before, am I missing something here? Pulled the hd, low-level formatted so must be in the bios right? *sigh* this one is kicking my butt. Thanks for any help you can give.
