I checked my laptop and these are the FULL service tags:
Service Tag:
DHX3SF1
Express Service Tag:
29381699485
I checked dell's online website with the service tag to see if it extended it, no luck.
I next tried Dell's chat support and the got this pushback:
The phone number is for ~payed support.Agent: "Hi Chris. Is the system that you would like to have support with a Vostro 1510, with Service Tag DHX3SF1?"
Chris: "Yes"
Agent: "To give you an update, your Hardware Warranty and Technical Support contract expired last 2009-03-03 . As much as we would like to help you regarding your concern, we can no longer pull up your records in here. I would have to refer you to the Dept. which" can help you best. Please contact this number: 1-888-261-1716.

Chris: "but it is a vostro 1000"
Chris: "woah woah woah"
Chris: "I just have a quick question"
Agent: "Ok?"
Chris: "What is my full service tag number?"
Agent: "DHX3SF1"
Agent: "That's the service tag."
Chris: "the final 4 digits I am missing"
Chris: "such as -595B -D35B -2A7B"
Agent: "That isn't a service tag."
Chris: "The BIOS for this platform is locked out by a password"
Chris: "and I need to recover the password for the BIOS"
Agent: "You need to get it reset."
Agent: "You can do so by calling the number I provided."
