need help using nero vision express 3

hi i recently started using this to try burn the odd dvd but after about 3/4 the way through it, it stops and says error its an avi file im trying to copy that i downloaded off the net

What discs are you using?

Are you using a convertor or are you just burning a data disk to play on divx player?

Have you tested the file to see if it plays on WMP or another windows player?

there not great disks to be honest didn think it really mattered a beginners mistake i suppose

dont no what ya mean by converter im just burning it to a dvd to watch on a dvd player i thought thats how easy it is obviously not and yes the file plays on realplayer and media player classic and media player

cgscott means what prog you using ie trying to convert it to dvd to play in your player or just burning it as a divx which will only play in Compatible dvd players.
if you are new to converting get rid of nero only good for music realy get a prog called ConvertXtoDVD google it and also worth getting is K-Lite Codec Pack this is free google it.
ConvertXtoDVD will convert any avi divx kvcd mp4 just drag what you want to convert into it put any disk in cheap or branded but id stick with middle of the range disks click convert takes about 15 to 20 mins on mine to convert hope this helps

thanks il give it a go when i get more discs ~~~~ed the others trying to burn them
