has anyone come across this prob

at system check get this warning,(secondary ide channel no80 conductor cable installed). system health ok, memory testing ok prompted to press f1 to continue, del system set up and so on... so press f1 everything is fine windows loads no prob checked in bios all drives recognised including cd on this ide channel, noprobs in device manager eg dodgy drivers ect. but when turn comp off or restart just get no signal on monitor then black screen, every time i need to reeboot need to remove and replace battery back then defaults loaded in bios checked connections but to no avail even changed ide cable no change....do you think i need to change my ide cable to an 80 pin one , any help would be most welcome.

How old is the battery?. It seems like the battery is not holding the bios information hence when you shutdown it reverts to default and you needs save the bios by going into it. Suggest changing the battery .

          hi m8
after all checks you made i will ask you the obvious can you hear fan on power supply if so that rules out dodgy psu .just thought the cheksum error could be indicating faulty memory if not that board is dead

            What is exact problem now.

            Do you get post messages?
            Can you boot into BIOS?
Does the screen just stay black regardless of what you do to it?

            Whats the motherboard/ram/gfx card.

try to use a 80 wire cable because maybe it cannot be used the older one with 40 wires
