    hi all

    Back to my sons laptop sorted the backlight problem thanks to you guys at dk.

    Another problem now its up and running we now noticed the keys Q A Z S and numbers 1 and 2 are not working is there an easy fix or could it be expensive.

    glad you sorted the screen. what did you end up doing? was it a software problem or did you replace the backlight?

    As for the keyboard, the ribbon connector might not be in properly. You'll have to take the laptop apart and reinster the keyboard ribbon. It will attach to the motherboard by a clip, just unclip it, stick the ribbon in, and clip it back up. It easy to do in theory, but it can be very fiddly trying to get the ribbon back in.

    If it still doesn't work just buy another keyboard, you can pick a second hand one up off fleabay for about a fiver.

      the screen was a software problem reinstalled xp all up and running, I will have a go at taking the laptop to bits could be a couple of days before I reply.
