Vista home premium LAN port.

Hi all.
I'm hoping someone can help me with getting the LAN port on my sons laptop working.
The laptop is running Windows Vista Home Premium.
Device manager reports the port has a problem because the driver is not loaded,however all my attempts to load the driver have failed,windows wont let me update the driver because it says i have the latest version it will un-install it, then on re-boot it re-loads the driver but with the same result.I know it's not the end of the world for the port not to be working but i need it to work so i can connect to my DreamBox to do some work on it.I can connect to the DB on my desktop but it's upstairs and a long way away from my DB and i need to be able to see the tv at the same time as working on the DB.
If any of this makes sense to someone,any help is appreciated.

go to laptop makers website and download all the drivers for the motherboard, it should include the drivers for your lan connection.

let me know what is your laptop's model

Tried the makers web site,problem is all drivers on lappy are latest versions as lappy is only three months old.Everything else is fine,just this driver refuses to load ?

try uninstalling the driver then use a registry cleaner to take out any entries connected with the driver ccleaner or AML etc. before reinstalling.

If you can run vista then you can run windows 7, and if you are not going to pay for it why not get ultimate version, all easily found on newsgroups or torrents
