    monitor wont stay on problem

guys, bought the young-un a pc for xmas but the moniter wont stay on,
it will pop on for 1 second while the pentium logo is on screen then go off, then pop back on when the windows logo is loading then go back off again.
then when everythibng has loaded up the screen just stays blank.
if i turn the monitor off then back on the scrrn is visible for 1 second then off again.

i had this problem yesterday so i just shut down the pc the proper way and rebooted....and the monitor was on, all working fine.
but today all im getting no matter what i try is the on for 1 second thing again.

ive tried going into safemode but f8 on bootup wont work.
i think thats because the keyboard is usb and not the round connector thing.

i know the monitor works because like i said, it was working ok yesterday.

    any ideas?

    thankyou

Do you have a video card with a 2th connection?
You may try the other connection.

could be the graphic drivers or bios are corrupted

      reset your bios

then if it comes on you will need to reinstall your graphic drivers to be sure.

no disrespect, but for this issue just now do not go into your bios and touch anything.

try and boot into safe mode again, if you still cant get in then my best suggestions is the easiest and most effective solution, even though you say the monitor worked yesterday, that dont mean it works today.

First try another monitor, even if it means taking the pc to someones house or vice versa, just try it, its the only way to find out for sure that theres no probs with the monitor.

after that we look at other options, you always should try the easy options first which is the one i said, and beleive me, in all my experience, it sometimes can be a faulty monitor and not the pc.

        please let us know.

i agree with thompson sometimes it can be a faulty monitor it usually the power supply on them that go
but i rule out faulty equipment as a last resort.check it on another monitor if comes on it is more or likely dead.
then its not the card but does not always mean its a hardware problem

some screens have certain refresh rates

          crt is about 60hz min
          tft is 75hz-120hz
          lcd is 60hz

if you were to go above the screens refresh rate on the card then you would get the no signal all the time and would require
the reset of the bios and removal of the drivers from safe mode to bring the screen on.
