    dvd drive problem

    hi lookking for help, every time i close my dvd drive i get a message (the file or folder 'zaautiv.scr that this shortcut refers to can't be found) i can go in to my computer drive e and open it from there i have an acer aspire laptop,if i try to burn a video or music cd my software keeps asking me to insert a cd or dvd when i do i keep getting the above error

    .scr files are either screen savers or scripts.

    neither are particularly good if the dvd drive is trying to initialise it, it typicaly means either a trojan or a registry error.

    Try performing a system wide virus scan and see if you come up with anything.

    if you dont have a virus scanner than try here: HouseCall - Free Antivirus Scan its an online webbased scanner that picks up most stuff, its not great but it does.

      Hold down the shift key and try it. See if it does it as well. If not you have a problem with autorun(autoplay). Along with chroma has already posted, grab TweakUI if you on XP from Microsofts XP power tools set here or for Vista and 7 type Autoplay in the search box on the start menu and from these check the autorun settings and alter as required.

          hi lads tried everything scan with homecall,bullguard,malwarebytes,but still have same problem any more ideas please i just put memory stick in my usb and get the same problem i was running vista but upgraded to windows 7 ultimate but problem was there before upgrade

              Whats the writter as i recently bought 1 and it came with its own software on the drive.

              Run msconfig an see if you cant disable the software from the boot

                don't think this would be the problem as i have the laptop for about a year and only noticed this problem in the last 2 weeks but will try anyway

                  ok lads got my problem sorted bullguard told me to run combo fix in safe mode and this fixed it thanks to any one who was trying to help
