i was wondering ,ive an i book g4 and as with them all after a couple of years the batteries stop holding charge NOW ,having taken one of these battery packs open its just a case holding i think 5 single cell batteries all joined up,what i want to know is could i possibly get 5 new re charge able batteries remove the old ones and re solder new ones in although not exactly the same size ,i think its got to be possible does any one out there have any ideas thanks happydays999

standard rechargeable batteries(NiMHs or NiCADs) will have no chance of holding enough charge to power a laptop, no matter how many you use. What you'll need are Lithium ion batteries. I don't know of anyone who sells then in standard sizes (AA, AAA etc) but you can buy battery packs of 4 or so cells. You could also probably make your own out pack out of single rechargeable cells from digital cameras for example, which are probably easier to get hold of.
