    driver repair update

click on start then go to controle panel, if you are using xp then double click on system then click on the tab called hardware in there you will see device manager click on that, in there you will see a drop dop down option to your dvd/cd rom drive right click over the dvd/cd rom drive and select update then follow the instructions. Bare in mind to select the look online for update option when it appears. Hope this helps.

if that doesn't work, select the remove this piece of hardware option, then rescan for hardware changes. This should pick it up and install it automatically. DVD drives dont need specialst drivers, they use the standard windows drivers. The only exception being for Lightscribe.

drivers for disk drives are part of your o/s and if it shows in device manager then your pc knows its there.
check in my computer and make sure it has been assigned a drive letter.

            try this

microsoft detect problems on the drive then fix them if possible.

            for windows xp and vista

*use when Internet Explorer or a compatible broswer microsoft software might not support the browser*

            click run now.

Your CD or DVD drive cannot read or write media

            for windows 7

you could try removing ide lead the dvd drive, reboot system then switch off system, reconnect ide lead, restart system. this normaly works for me
